Overlooking the Columbia River, the gallery is connected to a vast network of easy to moderate hiking trails. This gallery is a hidden treasure worth discovering. The Kootenay Gallery of Art, History and Science, located in Castlegar, is a public art gallery that serves the entire West Kootenay Region with a variety of exhibitions and public programming for all ages and is operated by a Board of Directors and staff who strive to accomplish the goals set in our mission statement.
It is one of the 28 original exhibition centers built in the 1970s so that rural people could enjoy the great works of art, sourced regionally, nationally and internationally as well as provide a professional venue for regional artists to show and sell their work.
