Named for the 144-mile-long Arrow Lakes system, the region encompasses three valleys resting on either side of the Selkirk Mountains that are connected by the Columbia and Kootenay rivers. The southern end of the Arrow Lakes region, appropriately shaped like a diamond, is near the Canadian/American border just south of Castlegar and it extends northwest to Upper Arrow Lake and the community of Nakusp and northeast up the Slocan Valley to Halcyon Hot Springs. It’s a family-friendly paradise complete with hot springs, ski hills, quaint restaurants and plenty of nordic trails for skiers of all capabilities.
