Millennium Park

One of the best attractions in Castlegar is the 23-hectare Millennium Park, located on the shores of the mighty Columbia River near the city’s downtown core. This is where children and adults alike spend afternoons and weekends swimming, biking, walking, building sand castles, enjoying picnics near the gardens and playing everything from soccer and tennis to beach volleyball. The natural swimming ponds, which are fed by the Columbia, are popular with families because the shallower areas are great for kids. And the newly built three-acre bike park is, hands-down, the best one in the Kootenays because of the amazing array of amenities on offer from beginner to expert pump tracks, dirt jumps and the lumber drop in, which is made up of over $15,000 worth of wood and is considered one of the most aesthetic bike-related structures in the province. If you’re single, a couple or a family, Millennium Park is a must-visit destination in the West Kootenays.

Millennium Park in Castlegar is also the home to the largest bike park in the Kootenays! The new Castlegar Bike Park has been four years in the making and includes something for every level of rider.
